Silhouette Value Paintings

Silhouette: the dark shape and outline of someone or something visible against a lighter background, especially in dim light.

For this project, you will be selecting a simple silhouette. Around the silhouette you will draw lines that echo or mimic the shape of the outside of the shape.
You will then mix all the tints and shades of one hue (color) to create a monochromatic background with at least six values.

Monochromatic:

All the tints (add white) and shades (add black) of one hue.

Things you need to consider for this project:
  • Mix your paints thoroughly.
  • Use a flat brush for the best, smoothest application of paint.
  • Don't rush!
